Dorothy L. Wilcox, 94 of Derry, died Wednesday February 7, 2018 at her daughter's home. She was born October 12, 1923 in Salem Twp., a daughter of the late Alfred and Gertrude Wallace Rubright.
Dorothy was a longtime resident of Greensburg. She retired from GeeBee's in Greensburg and had worked many years at J.C. Penney's. She had a green thumb and was a master at growing African Violets. She enjoyed craft shows selling her crafts and enjoying what others had made. Casinos, bingo and card parties were a true enjoyment for her.
In addition to her parents she was preceded by her husband George Wilcox. Her longtime companion Merritt "Skeet" Wolford, three brothers Infant Robert Rubright, Ellsmer Rubright and Paul Rubright. Four sisters; Ruth Walters, Lillian Shawley, Virginia Rubright, and Betty Watt.
She is survived by her loving daughter Joan Banocy (James) of Derry. Two grandchildren James A. Banocy of Pittsburgh and Jill Dibert (Michael) of Delmont. Two great grandchildren Morgan and Carter. Her sister Evelyn Beaufort of Jeannette, several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Sunday from 4-7pm in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry where a service will be conducted Monday at 11am. Entombment will be made at the Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
