Edith A. "Nettie" Long Pershing, 96, of Ligonier, died peacefully Saturday August 19, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 31, 1921 in NewAlexandria a daughter of the late Frank M. and Helen Mary Elder Long.

Nettie was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Ligonier. She was a 1940 graduate of Derry Twp. High School and a 1947 graduate of the Latrobe Hospital School of Nursing. She had nursed for many years at Latrobe Hospital and McGinnis Hospital in Ligonier. After retiring from McGinnis Hospital she nursed for five more years at the Ft. Myers Community Hospital in Florida. She also was a member of the Port Allegheny VFW Women's Auxillary and former member of the Ligonier O.E.S. She was a very humble lady who enjoyed cracking a joke, hunting, fishing,

flowers and gardening.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her step-mother Mary Helen Hartman and her husband George William Pershing in 2006.

She is survived by her son George F. Pershing (Karen) of Greensburg and her daughter whom she made her home with Nettie Sullenberger (Charles R.) of Ligonier. Six grandchildren; Matthew Sullenberger (Heather), Kevin Sullenberger, Sean Pershing (Nicole), Kirk Pershing (Veronica), Tyler Sullenberger (Heather) and Ted Sullenberger. Four great grandchildren; Ivan, Tessa and Allison Pershing, and Sage Sullenberger.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 6-8pm in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry, where a service will be conducted Wednesday at 11am with the Reverend Don Graff officiating. Interment will be made in the Coles Cemetery, Derry.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Ligonier or the Latrobe United Presbyterian Church.
