Eldon E. "El" Butterworth, 80 of Punxsutawney, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Butterworth was born February 28, 1936 in Philipsburg, a son of the late Edwin and Mabel (Irwin) Butterworth.

He is survived by his wife Pearl Joann (Miller) Butterworth.

El owned and operated the Trade City Garage for over 46 years. His garage was his life.

In addition to his wife Joann, he is survived by two sons; Thomas E. Butterworth and wife Wendy Pardee of State College, Timothy E. Butterworth of Punxsutawney, one daughter; Cindy Shugars of Leesburg, VA., two step daughters; Susan (Bouch) Cole of Richmond, VA., Carol (Bouch) Snyder and husband Wayne of Punxsutawney, one brother; Dean Butterworth of Philipsburg, three sisters; Janet Miller of Lockhaven, Joan Diamomd and husband Paul of Philipsburg, Theora Williamson of Nashville, TN, five grandchildren, two step grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

El is preceded in death by his first wife Kathryn (Maines) Butterworth on January30, 1980, four brothers; Irwin, John, Maynard and Ray.

Friends will be received from 11 until 1 pm Sunday, May 1, at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney where a funeral service will be held at 1 pm With Pastor Tom Spiker officiating.

Interment is private.
