James H. Snodgrass, 91, of Derry passed away Saturday March 17, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 22, 1926 in Longbridge (Ligonier Township) the son of the late James H. and Margaret Over Snodgrass.
He graduated from Latrobe High School, served in the US Navy during WWII and was employed by Latrobe Steel Company. He enjoyed RV trips with family and friends, fishing, hunting, bowling and bicycling. In addition, in his retirement years he enjoyed making wood crafts for family and friends and restoring bicycles which he gave to neighborhood children.
James is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Theresa (Laurenzio), son James L. Snodgrass and his wife LuAnn of Delmont, grandchildren; Sean Snodgrass and wife Rachel of Greensburg and Heather and her husband Nicholas McClone of Monroeville. Great grandchildren; Evelyn and Elizabeth Snodgrass, Cole and soon to be born Ella McClone. Two sister in laws; Mary McInchok of Ligonier and Jean Rellick and her husband George of Derry. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 4-8pm in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry where a service will be conducted Wednesday at 11am. Interment will follow in the Fairmont Cemetery, Stahlstown.
The Latrobe-Derry Veterans Honor Guard will conduct a military service Wednesday at 10:45am in the funeral home.
His family expresses their thanks to Excela Latrobe Hospital, Greensburg Care Center, Hempfield Manor, and Excela Health Hospice for the excellent care they provided in his final days.
