Kenneth E. Ruth Sr., 87 of Punxsutawney passed away, Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Punxsutawney Area Hospital. Mr. Ruth was born November 24, 1929 in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Willis and Hilda (Hopkins) Ruth. Kenneth was preceded in death by his loving wife Edith Ruth in 2009. He was a US Army Veteran having served during the Korean War. Kenneth worked for over 25 years at the First Church of God as a custodian. He loved music and was an avid guitar player. His spare time was spent tinkering and enjoying his grandchildren. He is survived by his son Kenneth E. Ruth, Jr. of Punxsutawney, a daughter; Marcia DeFoor and husband Edward of Acme, three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, five sisters; Mildred "Midge", Leona, Carol, Linda and Nancy. In addition to his wife Edith, he was preceded in death by one brother; William Ruth and one sister; Margaret Haag. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney. A funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday November 8, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Greg Smith officiating. Interment at Hopewell Cemetery in Frostburg is private for family.
