Lawrence F. McCracken, 94, of Derry, died Wednesday November 1, 2017 at Hempfield Manor.

He was born May 24, 1923 in Unity Township a son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Bush McCracken.

A member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church of Derry, a US Navy Veteran having served in WWII , had retired from Derry Westinghouse and belonged to the Derry Rod & Gun Club. He was an avid golfer and loved to hunt and fish.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Helen L. Slivoskey McCracken, 12 brothers and sisters.

Larry is survived by his 3 daughters: Leandre Randall of Latrobe, Kathleen Smith of Derry, and Lynn Hantz (Gary) of Greensburg. Six grandchildren; Richard (Jennifer) Zemba, Brian (Jackie) Zemba, Rhonda (Brad) Scruggs, Melanie (Kevin) Ryan, Maggie and Madison Hantz. Five great grandchildren; Jacob, Danielle, Reagan, Evan and Lillian. Several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Thursday from 4 - 8 PM in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 AM in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Derry with the Reverend Salvatore R. Lamendola as celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Vincent Cemetery, Unity Township.

The Latrobe-Derry Veterans Honor Guard will conduct a service Friday at 9:15am in the funeral home.
