Ronald J. Shine, 58, of Derry, died Thursday December 1, 2016 in UPMC-Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. Ron was born February 7, 1958 in Latrobe, a son of the late Frank and Edith Bonifazi Shine.

He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church of Derry. Ron was very religious and spiritual. To Ron every day was a "good day", he was never negative, always having a smile on his face, a great sense of humor and an encouraging word for all. He was a 1976 graduate of Derry Area High School and was the senior class president. He had worked at Blairsville Westinghouse for 38 years and was the union president for IBEW Local #1096. He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and loved to hunt and fish. He held a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Moo Duk Kwan Martial Arts and taught TaiChi. Ron was truly devoted to his wife, daughters, relatives and friends.

He held membership in the following clubs; Derry Rod and Gun, New Derry Sportsman, Derry Ukes, F.O.E.#1188, Latrobe, the Cooperstown Veterans Association and Twin Maples.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Linda Garrison.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 32 years (together for 38) Sunny Latta Shine, his loving daughters Holly L. Shine of Tuscon, AZ and Brandi L. Shine of Roaring Spring, PA. His brother Bill Shine (Jackie) of Latrobe, mother-in-law Mary Latta of Derry, God-children; Dr. Billy Shine, Gary Garrison, Nick King and Ty Blasco. Brother in laws: John (Lois) Latta, Bill Latta (Melissa), George (Lori) Latta, and Eric DeMalta (Diane). Several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Friends will be received Saturday from 5-8pm and Sunday 12-4 and 6-8pm in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry. A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday at 1:30pm in the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church of Derry with the Reverend Father Stephen C. West as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In Lieu of flowers the family request donation be made to: Family House Shadyside, 5245 Centre Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15232.
