Wayne E. Kappel, 84, of Ligonier, died Tuesday June 28, 2016 in the Bethlen Home, Ligonier. He was born December 6, 1931 in W. Wilmerding a son of the late John H. and Ida Mae Crowell Kappel.

Wayne was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church of Ligonier. He had served in the USArmy, was a member of DAV and had retired from Sears.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Jack Kappel and his sister Ruth Grand.

Wayne is survived by his daughter Amy K. Salay of Ligonier, his sons; Wayne H. Kappel (Theresa) and John E. Kappel (Lois) all of Ligonier. Eight grandchildren; Rebecca Salay, Katharine Corotte-Salay, Angela Oakes, Lauren Salay, Matthew Kappel, Lydia Taylor, Nathan and Hannah Kappel. One niece Lynn Andelmo.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 10am in the St. James Lutheran Church of Ligonier with his pastor Reverend Paul D. Poerschke officiating. Private interment will be made in the Ligonier Valley Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. James Church Choir.
