James Heacox Obituary

James G. Heacox, 95, of Derry, died Thursday January 11, 2024 at Independence Health System Latrobe with his loving wife of fifty-eight years by his side. He was born October 21, 1928 in Derry a son of the late Harry L. and Lucinda Taylor Heacox.
Jim served proudly in the Army during the Korean War, was a Past Master and member of LaMonte Lodge #568 F&AM, Derry and had worked for 38 years as a steelworker at Latrobe Steel. In his youth he played softball every chance he could. He was an avid bowler and loved to hear the scores of his sons and grandsons. Jim loved to travel the United States and spent countless summers camping in the Mountains with his wife Judy. 
He is survived by his loving wife Judith Stiffler Heacox, his sons; J. Thomas of Derry, Bryan Heacox (Laura) of Derry and Ross Alan Heacox (Tina) of Summerville, South Carolina, his sister Joyce Leandra Robbins of Carlisle, four grandsons; Cody, Shawn, Kristopher and Derek, several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 and 6-8pm in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry where a service will be conducted Tuesday at 11am. Interment will be made in the Coles Cemetery, Derry.
LaMonte Lodge #568 F&AM will conduct a Masonic service Monday at 6pm in the funeral home.
Jim's family would like to thank the Mutual-Aid Derry, the Latrobe Area Hospital Nurses and staff, and the Latrobe Area Hospital Hospice Team. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Derry Volunteer Fire Department at 116 E 2nd Ave in Derry.
