Concetta A. "Connie" Distefano, 80, of Derry, went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, November 28, 2017.  Born on December 9, 1936 in Latrobe, PA, she is reunited in heaven with her sisters Mary Ruffner and Carmella Uveges, brother Joseph Distefano, and parents Antonio and Angelina Distefano.  Connie was loved dearly by her surviving two nieces, seven nephews, several grand nieces and nephews, and beloved family friends Jo and Rose.  She was deeply devoted to her faith, family, and friends throughout her life, and known for her unending kindness and generosity.  She had a heart of gold, loved to laugh and have fun, and her constant smile lit up a room.  A virtuoso pianist who studied piano at the Mount Mercy Conservatory in Pittsburgh, she joyfully played the piano, accordion, and organ over the years which inspired a lifelong love of music within her family.  Her nieces fondly remember her putting them to bed as children listening to My Fair Lady and other Broadway musical favorites she regularly played on her phonograph.  Connie regularly attended mass at St. Joseph Roman Church in Derry where she loved seeing her friends and was also a devout member of the altar rosary society.  In addition to her love of music, she was blessed with many other creative and artistic talents, including decorating beautiful cakes at the former Netzel’s Bakery in Derry and Giant Eagle in Latrobe.  She will be sorely missed by all.

Friends will be received  Friday from 4-6pm at the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry. A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10am in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church of Derry with Father Salvatore Lamendola as celebrant.

Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery.

The rosary will be recited Friday at 4pm in the funeral home.
