LOUISE M. STEFFANI

August 1, 1917 – January 13, 2019

Louise M. Steffani, 101, of Derry, died on January 13, 2019, at Excela Latrobe.

She was born on August 1, 1917, the 10th of 15 children born to the late Antonio and Maria (Sconciafurno) Mastrorocco.  She was preceded in death by her siblings Salvatore, Aldeen, Agostino, Ada Apone, Rose Cherup, Edmondo, Elena Bell-Pachel, Maria DeLuca, Lydia Sarp, Dorothy Syster, and Antonio.  Louise was also preceded in death by her husband Lawrence in 1974.  Louise is survived by her daughter Marie E. (Fred) Balzer of Derry and son Lawrence J. (Maureen) of Sewell, NJ; 4 grandchildren Karen (Stewart) Fancher of Sewickley, PA, Kathleen (William) Petulla of Gibsonia, PA,  Cristin (Patrick) Rodier of Logan Township, NJ, and Lawrence III of Sewell, NJ.; and 8 great grandchildren: Julia and Maxwell Fancher, Chase, Jack and Cameron Petulla, Gianna and Ryan Rodier, and Ashton Steffani.  She is survived by her siblings Teresa Lazarchik of Derry, Anna Grace Mosso of Lansdale, PA, Joseph Mastrorocco of Latrobe.

She was a licensed beautician, a 20-year volunteer at Latrobe Area Hospital, and a life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. 

Louise loved to walk, particularly on the path around Ethel Lake, and take bus trips to the casinos.  Most of all she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She will long be remembered for her biscotti, pizzelles, pizza bread, sweet breads, and chocolate chip cookies.

The family would like to thank Father Sam, the staff at Barnes Place, Lois Wozny RN and the staff of Excela Health Hospice, Nancy Munshower, Lori Gunsallus and especially Sharon Ritenour for the loving care and assistance they rendered.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W 3rd Avenue, Derry, PA 15627 (724-694-2789). 

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, January 17 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church with the Rev. Salvatore R. Lamendola as celebrant.  Friends are asked to go directly to the church.  Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Derry.  In lieu flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Church, 117 S. Ligonier Street, Derry, PA. 15627.

The Altar Rosary Society will recite the Rosary Wednesday at 2:30pm in the funeral home.
