Richard Houston Obituary

Richard W. Houston, 76, of Derry, died peacefully Thursday February 1, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 26, 1942 in Greensburg, a son of the late Walter and Goldie M. Kuhns Houston.

Richard was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Derry. He had worked as a truck driver having worked for many years for Benco. He was a life member of the Chestnut Ridge Community VFD. He loved to joke, have fun, tinker in his garage and ride his motorcycle. "Beer and Pizza".

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings; Ruth Grabb, Walter, Charles and Betty Houston.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Ruth Ann McCracken Houston, his daughters; Tracy Schmucker (Wayne) , Donna Kopetsky (Tony) both of Blairsville and Edith Lynn Brown (Kevin) of Latrobe. Five grandchildren; Colleen, Tony, Luke, Mason and Allie. Two great grandchildren; Gabby and Anthony.  Special "son" Carl Ghrist Jr. of Latrobe, sister in law Edith McCracken of Derry, several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry where a service will be conducted Monday at 11am with his pastor Reverend William A. Schaefer officiating.  Interment will follow in the Bethel Church Cemetery.

Chestnut Ridge Community Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a service Sunday at 6pm in the funeral home.
