Walter James Brewer, 74 of Derry Twp. passed away at his home on September 27, 2017.

He was the son of William Charles and Alberta Mae (Parks) Brewer, born May 23, 1943 at home in Derry, Twp.

Walter is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Lou (Marshall) Brewer; children, Ricki Lyn (Brewer) and husband James Prohaska Jr. of Bradenville, W. James Brewer and wife Lisa (Ionadi) Brewer of Midland, MI, grandchildren, Kaylee Marie (Prohaska) and husband Dale Horner, Emily Ann (Prohaska) and husband Keith Gruver, Michael James Brewer, Tristan Joseph Brewer, Jacob Anthony Brewer, great-grandchildren, Allieonna Bella Horner, Dallin James Horner, and Corbin Timothy Horner, sisters, Josephine Carlson of Derry and Nellie Crites and husband Howard of Austintown, OH, brothers, Wilbert Brewer and wife Jeanne of York, and David Brewer and wife Linda of Youngstown, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Michael Charles Brewer, sisters, Jane Short, Mary Howard, Rachel Picard and Helen Leccia and brothers, William Brewer and Frank Brewer.

Walter worked for 11 years as a Signalman for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co. of Virginia, he retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad as a Signal Supervisor after 25 years. He served four years in the United States Marine Corps where he was an expert marksman and instructor from 1960 to 1964 and unactive reserves until 1966. Walter was also a member of the Latrobe American Legion.

Friends will be received on Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Ave. Derry with military rites at 7:45 pm by the Latrobe\Derry Funeral Honor Guard. . His Funeral Service will be on Sunday at 10 am at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Alfieri, officiating. Interment will be private.
