William Bracken Sr. Obituary

William C. Bracken Sr., 86, of Derry (Hillside) died Saturday February 10, 2018 at his home. He was born November 12, 1931 in Latrobe a son of the late Frederick and Lula Cogan Bracken.

Bill was a USArmy veteran having served in Korea. He worked for many years out of the Local 1451. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and playing the lottery.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Jackie Cronin Bracken, a son William C. Bracken Jr., a daughter Judith Shanefelter, a brother John Bracken, a sister Sally Schearer and an infant grandson.

He is survived by his daughter Joyce Reffo (Pete) of Derry, his son Joseph F. Bracken (Betsy) of New Derry, a daughter in law Toni Bracken of Derry, a son in law Dave Shanefelter of Latrobe, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 and 6-8pm in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry where a service will be conducted Tuesday at 11am. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery, Derry.

The Latrobe-Derry Veterans Honor Guard will conduct a service at 10 am on Tuesday in the funeral home.
