Charles W. "Chubby" McKinney, 97, passed away Wednesday October 18, 2023 at his brothers home.
He was born Saturday, September 18, 1926 in Derry, a son of the late Jesse W. and Myrtle I. Albaugh McKinney
Chubby was a WWII US Army Veteran belonging to the 328th Infantry, 26th Yankee Division, receiving a Purple Heart from the Ardennes/Rhineland Campaign. He had worked for Latrobe Die Casting for 33 years and had held memberships in the Derry VFW Post #444, F.O.E. of Derry, Frontier Club, Derry Ukes and the Derry Rod & Gun Club. Chubby enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, watching the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates, spending time at camp with his friend Mike and spending time with his many relatives especially his great nieces; Shakira, Madison, Alexis, Riley and his great nephew Declan.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers; George, Jesse and Kenneth McKinney, four sisters; an infant, Velma Pollard, Anna Jane Rupert and Lois Skoloda.
He is survived by his brother Ronald McKinney and his wife Kimberly of Blairsville, his sister Marjorie Hauser of Greensburg, several nieces, nephews great nieces and great nephews.
Friends will be received Monday from 11-1pm at the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry, where his service will be conducted at 1pm.
Interment will follow in the Coles Cemetery, Derry.
He had asked that no flowers be sent, but donations to be made to Bridges Hospice, 4130 Monroeville Blvd, Monroeville, PA 15146.

The Latrobe-Derry Veterans Honor Guard will conduct a service Monday at 12:45pm in the funeral home..
