David Kilgore joined the love of his life, Jane up in Heaven on November 8th, 2023
David was born on November November 26, 1929 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania; the son of John Alexander Kilgore and Gail Reynolds Kilgore. He attended Greensburg Area School District and graduated in 1947. He was an Eagle Scout and had Brotherhood Honor/Order of the Arrow.
He was enrolled at St Vincent College from 1949-1953 and graduated with a degree in Business.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 as Spec. 3rd Class as a Supply Specialist based in Japan at Tokorozawa Ordinance Depot.
After the army he worked as a sales rep for West Penn Power in Westmoreland County until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the Elks Club and Rotary Club of which he was president for many years and was honored at being a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary International.
He was a deeply involved member of Covenant Presbyterian Church of Ligonier where he held the positions of Elder, Deacon, and Trustee and was the church Sunday school secretary for many many years.
On December 3rd, 1968 David bought a 1 ½ story cottage in Rector on 3 lots of the Lucy Byers Plan to begin his life there. David married the love of his life, Jane Estelle Butts on February 1st, 1969 in Altoona. They lived in that house in Rector (accumulating the surrounding lots that border Linn Run Road) for over 50 years. They raised 2 sons, Kevin Ross Burket and John Alexander Kilgore. Kevin married Corrinne White and raised four children and John married Jill Nozzi and they raised two children. Jane eventually was admitted to Bethlen Home in 2021 for progressive dementia predeceasing David on May 22, 2022. David moved to be closer with his son’s family into a personal care home in Fleetwood, Pa where he died on 11/8/2023.
Friends will be received Monday from 10-11am at the McCabe Funeral Home, 144 East Main Street, Ligonier where his service will be conducted at 11am with the Reverend Jordan Harris officiating.
Entombment will be made in the Saint Clair Cemetery Mausoleum, Greensburg.
