Dorothy Heacox Obituary

 

Dorothy Jean Burik Heacox, 92, of Derry, died Monday October 6, 2025 at St. Anne's Home Greensburg.

She was  in Derry a daughter of the late Stanley and Catherine Korchok Burik.

She was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church of Derry and found peace in her catholic faith. She was a graduate of Derry Boro High School Class of 1951 and had formerly worked as a secretary for Derry Westinghouse and Penn State University. She was very proud of her grandchildren and loved celebrating Christmas with family. Spending time with her grandchildren, knitting, doing puzzles, reading, decorating for holidays and the Penn State Nittany Lions were things that made her happy.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years Richard A. Heacox, siblings; John, Mike, Anthony "Legs", Frank "Lil", and Stan "Buddy" Burik, Katie Borzovets, Annie Franke, June Burik, Mildred Burik, Helen Burger and Rose Caldwell.

She is the loving mother of; Karen Theis (Ed) of Mount Pleasant, Patti Shivetts (Kevin) of Latrobe, Cathy Galida (Torrey) of Cornelius, NC and Rich Heacox (Jacki) of Jamison, PA, loving grandmother of; Sara Theis, Alex (Nicci) Shivetts, Aaron Shivetts, Lauren Galida, Jack Galida, Shane, Blaise and Remi Heacox. Many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Friday from 4-7 pm in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry. A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 am at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with Father Salvatore Lamendola as celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

The Altar Rosary Society will recite the Rosary Friday at 3:30 pm in the funeral home.
