Dorothy Ann Kleinbub, 84, of Derry died peacefully Sunday May 5, 2024 at her home. She was a kindhearted woman who would share her lovely smile with everyone she met, would have a word of encouragement and thanks to all who helped her.
She was born in Maspeth, Queens, New York City in 1940 and attended Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal School and Grover Cleveland High School. She met her husband at the OLMM Church choir in Ridgewood, Queens, where they were married and continued to sing in the choir together for many years. She and her husband moved to Golden Colorado in the late 90's and lived there for over 20 years and then moved to be by their daughter in Derry, Pennsylvania.
Dorothy loved to crochet beautiful blankets for friends and family and was accomplished in many areas. In high school she sang at Lincoln Center in NYC, having a beautiful soprano voice; she was artistic and loved to draw and paint as a young woman. Dorothy was a magnificent cook and at one point, owned 600 cookbooks! Her family enjoyed all types of gourmet meals, which she loved to prepare! Her husband Gottfried was in charge of the salad and in later years making breakfast.
Dorothy and Gottfried enjoyed many trips to Europe, often going on tours in Germany, Italy and various other places.
Dorothy worked part-time at C-Town in Maspeth, Queens, then as a private eye for Citibank and then was an executive secretary for The Wiz Electronics' CEO in Maspeth, Queens.
Dorothy loved her family more than anything, except for her Lord Jesus Christ. She often told us how important her faith was. She took pains to always keep her heart pure before the Lord. We were truly blessed to have her as a mother. She will be with us always.
We will miss her lighthearted laugh, her warm embrace and her loving heart.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 62 years, Gottfried R. Kleinbub. Her daughter Maria C Kleinbub and dear friend Frank Tomaselli of Derry, Joseph J Kleinbub and wife Candice of Arvada, Colorado. Michael Klein and family of Lakewood, Colorado, grandchildren; Steven Kleinbub, Gabriel Kleinbub, and Lukas Kleinbub, close friends John Clark of Golden, Colorado and Brandi and Spencer Alexander and their children, along with many dear friends at Barnes Place in Latrobe.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry.
