Dorothy Mae Palmer Gross

Dorothy May (Palmer) Gross of Ligonier passed away at the age of 92 years old on October 12, 2025 after living a long and blessed life. She was the daughter of Norman and Rose France Palmer And the wife of Leonard R Gross. All of whom preceded her in death. She was the youngest and last survivor of 3 brothers and 4 sisters being born on October 21, 1932..

A long time employee of Latrobe hospital where she eventually retired from, she leaves behind 1 daughter Roberta (Bobbi) Haines

4 grand children; Christy Medina and her husband Luis,

Chad Blystone and his wife Angela, Rebecca Blaha and her husband Justin, and Joshua Haines and his wife Hillary,13 great grandchildren,

8 great granddaughters; Stephanie, Marissa and husband Adam, Elliana , zeta, Lyla, Karina, Josie and Joy,5 great grandsons; Sullivan, JJ, Jackson, Jet and Henry. She was also anxiously awaiting the arrival of her first great great grandson whom sadly she will not have met. But, those of us that she has left behind will be sure her memory lives on. There are plenty of stories of weekend sleepovers with cocoa wheats, Disney world trips (even one with three of her grand children and grand children in laws and a few of the great grand children that were here at the time), the birthday cards that always came without fail, and there were a ton of birthdays to keep straight, Christmas’s in the woods with more deserts than there was pizza, and there was always a lot of pizza, and more lunch outings with those she loved at her favorite places than anyone could possibly count. You can be certain that she cut the grass just prior to going home to be with the Lord, which she absolutely believed in and even longed for since the passing of her beloved and dearly missed husband 14 years ago. 

Family and friends will be received   Friday October 17th from 11-1 with a service to immediately follow at the McCabe Funeral Home, 144 East Main Street, Ligonier.

Private interment will be made in the Ligonier Valley Cemetery.
