Frances Joan Alexander, 82, of Ligonier, passed away November 25,2023, in the Concordia Bethlen Home. She was born April 8, 1941 in Ligonier a daughter of the late Alfred and Odessa (Iscrupe) Fletcher. Frances was a fun loving person with a big heart who loved her family. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. She loved to walk and had an adventurous feisty spirit. Frances previously worked at the Colonial Flower shop in Ligonier, volunteered for Relay for Life and was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church, Ligonier where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also the former treasurer of the ladies auxiliary to Ligonier VFD Hose Co. #1.
Frances is survived by her husband Ralph M. Alexander, her six children, Michael L. Johnson (Lynn), David K. Johnson (Susan), Lance P. Alexander (Terri) all of Ligonier, Carla Johnson (Marianne) of Wilmington NC, Michelle A. Markinack (John) of Perryopolis, Brenda D. Tomlinson (Scott) of Ligonier, grandchildren Jason Tomlinson (Natasha), Jessica Kaltenbaugh (Cory), Johnathan Markinack, Matthew Alexander, Alex Johnson, Chelsea Harman (Shawn), Leighanne Sheffler, Nick Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Christina Blotzer (Jason), Bennette and Adalyn Blotzer, Seven great grandchildren Maxim Tomlinson, Archer Kaltenbaugh, Chase Harman, Makenley, Gage, Emma and Michael Arbogast, a sister Ruth Burdick of Ligonier, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Frances is preceded in death by a brother William Fletcher, sister Betty Waltermire and first husband Lloyd C. Johnson, Jr. Family will receive friends Wednesday, from 10 - 12 in the McCabe Funeral Home 144 East Main St. Ligonier, with a funeral service at 12 pm with Rev Dr. J. Paul McCracken. Interment will be made in the Ligonier Valley Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Ligonier Volunteer Fire Department hose Co. #1 or St. James Lutheran Church, Ligonier.
