Harold Grant Newell

Harold Grant Newell, 95, of Ligonier died Friday December 19, 2025 at the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona,. He was born May 5, 1930 in Stahlstown a son of the late Ernest and Phyllis Hood Newell.
Harold was a proud US Air Force Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1953. He was a member of the Christian Church of Waterford where he had served in many positions being an elder, treasurer and Sunday School teacher to name a few and also was a member of the Byers-Tosh American Legion Post 267, Ligonier. For many years he and his wife owned and operated Newells Valley TV Service. He was a ham radio operator and in his younger years was an avid baseball player.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 70 years Edith Thomas Newell and brothers; William "Billy", Richard P., Frank and John Newell.
Harold is survived by his daughters; Barbara Armstrong (Mike) of Bel Air, MD, Beverly Grace of Knoxville, TN, Betty Jo Cairns (Rick) of Ligonier and Bernice Pelava (Don) of Mesa, AZ, his brother Robert Newell of Pittsburgh, grandchildren; Ben Grace, Brady Grace, Alex Cairns (Abi), Chad Cairns (Candace), Clark Cairns (Annie) and Christopher Armstrong, seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Monday from 4-7 pm and Tuesday from 10-11 am in the McCabe Funeral Home, 144 East Main Street, Ligonier where his service will be conducted Tuesday at 11 am with his pastor Jesse Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Menoher Memorial Cemetery.
The Ligonier Valley Veterans Honor Guard will present a service Monday at 6:45 pm in the funeral home.
