Helen A. Rose, 100, of Ligonier, died Monday February 19, 2024 in Independence Health System Westmoreland. She was born June 28, 1923 on Staten Island, New York the daughter of the late Joseph and Esther Molnar Fazekas.
She was a member of the Hungarian Reformed Church on Staten Island, the Hungarian Reformed Church in Duquense, Montevido Urguay and the Bethlen Home.
She enlisted in the US Navy during WW II and was stationed in Washington, D.C. After being discharged from the Navy she was employed by the Veterans' Administration in NY and VA Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Pittsburgh. In 1957 she transferred to the CIA and was temporarily assigned to the offices of the White House and then retired from the CIA in 1975.
Helen was a member and supporter of the Ligonier YMCA, American Legion Post #267 and was one of the original members of the Diamond Red Hats.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Carl Rose, siblings;Olga Szabo. Margaret Szoke and Joseph Farrell.
She is survived by her step children; Stewart, Mary Carol, Patricia and Bonnie Rose, nieces Alexandra Myron (Robert) and Nancy Chan.
Interment was made in the Ligonier Valley Cemetery.
