Herbert R. Guyer, 101 of Derry passed away peacefully at home with family December 24, 2025. He was born August 23, 1924, in Wilkinsburg a son of the late William and Ethel Brunswick Guyer. Herb was a distinguished World War II US Navy Veteran where he was a gunner on Patrol Bombing Squadron #123 earning an air medal and gold star for exceptional service. He had retired from Latrobe Steel and maintained a lifelong dedication to farming where he returned to after the service to manage the family farm. He took pride in his Guernsey cows, which he loved drinking their golden milk, a secret to his longevity. He was a member of the PA Guernsey Breeders and the American Guernsey Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Thelma Palmer Guyer, brother Wilbur Guyer, sons; Herbert Guyer and David A. Guyer Sr. and daughter's Nancy Guyer and Barbara Herrod and a granddaughter Paula Guyer.
He is survived by his children; Carol Sulkosky (Rick) of Derry Twp., sons; William "Bill" Guyer (Sue) of Albion, Barry Guyer and Dennis Guyer (Bev) all of Derry Twp., a daughter- in- law Linda Jane Guyer and son-in-law Joe Herrod, grandchildren; Jennifer Baughman (Eric), David Guyer (Alyson), Melissa Sulkosky, Keegen Gennuso (Mark), Kristy Kohler (James), Brenda Herrod, Amy Fedorchak (Rob) and Britta Guyer, numerous great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Family will receive friends Monday December 29, from 4 to 7 pm, in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry where a funeral service will be conducted at 11 am Tuesday with Rev. William A. Schaefer officiating. Interment will follow in the Unity Cemetery with military honors being accorded by VFW Post #33 Greensburg. In lieu of flowers donations are appreciated to the PA Guernsey Breeders Association 190 Seal Road Eighty Four PA 15330.
