Irma LaVera Shaffer

Irma LaVera Shaffer, 96, of Ligonier, died Tuesday March 25, 2025 in Concordia at Bethlen, Ligonier. She was born April 18, 1928 in Champion, Fayette County a daughter of the late John and Viola Laws Garey.
She was a member of the Pioneer Presbyterian Church in Ligonier and past member of the Eastern Star in Ligonier. She was a devoted Christian and home maker, wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, who was always ready to fly somewhere to babysit the grandsons. She and Bob were able to travel in their retired years making many mission trips to Jamaica as well as Europe, Alaska and various states in the US.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Robert Edward (Bob) Shaffer, a son Thomas William Shaffer, a grandson Emmett "Richie" Lackey and a son-in-law David Lee Sell.
Irma is survived by her daughter Lois J. and Daniel H. Moore III of Ligonier, her son James R. and Angelina Shaffer of Colorado Springs, CO, grandsons; Steven and  Rebecca Shaffer of Colorado Springs, CO, Michael and KB Shaffer of Woodbridge, VA and Scott Shaffer of Salt Lake City, UT, great grandsons; Colton, William and Benjamin Shaffer of Colorado Springs, CO, a niece Joan Shaffer and husband Al Nakanishi of St. Louis, MO and nephew Greg Shaffer and his wife Judy Huddleston of Chandler, AZ and many cousins.
Friends will be received Saturday from 11-1 pm in the McCabe Funeral Home, 144 East Main Street, Ligonier, where a service will be conducted at 1 pm with her pastor the Reverend David R. Kenyon officiating. Private interment will be made in the Ligonier Valley Cemetery.
