James C. Chappell

James C. Chappell, 62, of Varnamtown, NC, formerly of Derry, died unexpectedly Sunday February 1, 2026. He was born November 25, 1963 in Latrobe a son of Laura Chappell of Derry and the late James Chappell.
Jim loved living in North Carolina as well as gardening, campfires, the great outdoors and being
around family.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a son Curtis Chappell and a sister Denise Smith.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife Laura Ashbaugh Chappell, a son Scott Chappell (Cassie) of Latrobe, a step daughter Cassie Thompson (Carl) of New Florence, step son Chuck Hull (Kay) of Latrobe, sisters; Lori Bolish (Jerry) of Varnamtown,NC and Marlene Chappell (Jeff) of Homer City, brothers; Vince Chappell (Carol) of Derry and Terry Chappell of Homer City, many grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Sunday February 8, 2026 from 1-3 pm in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry. Interment will be private.
