Jay R. "Herk" Leary

Jay R. Leary Sr. "Herk" 87, of Bradenville, passed away July 15, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born July 7, 1937, in Latrobe a son of the late Joseph and Helen (Hill) Leary.  Jay was a member of the Bradenville United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Army Veteran.  He was a partner of EBBCO box company and was employed by Mark Lines Bus Company.
Jay is survived by his wife Mary L. (Kwaczala) Leary, his son Jay Leary Jr. (Elizabeth), two grandchildren Courtney Tutoki (Michael) and Jacob Leary (Joelle) four great grandchildren Colson, Maisie, Chesnie and Marleigh, siblings Barbara Gazdik, William Leary (Sally), Joann Patterson (Ralph), Kathy Bridge, Lynne Watkins and Michelle Boggio and lifelong friends and stepsister Jackie Kabala and husband Anthony Kabala.  In addition to his parents, Herk is preceded in death by three brother-in-laws Wallace Gazdik, Stephen Bridge and Donald Watkins. Herk's family would like to extend a special thanks to the Independence Health Care Hospice team and to Roxanne, Janice, Lindsey, Imelda and Ginger for their great care.
A memorial service will be held Monday July 22, 2024, at 11 AM, in the McCabe Funeral Home 300 West Third Ave, Derry with Rev. Olivia Graham officiating.
