Jeffrey Bateman Obituary

Jeffrey Franklin Bateman, 70, of Strongstown, passed away Tuesday October 22, 2024, in Indiana. He was born September 22, 1954, in Latrobe, a son of the late Harry R. Bateman and Ruth C. Fritz Bateman Roble.
Jeff graduated from the Ligonier Valley School District and had belonged to the Ligonier Church of Christ. He had worked at Dietrich Industries most of his life until the plant closed and then held several other jobs including Pleasant Valley Golf Course, Holiday Acres Maintenance, Latrobe Area Hospital and the Lincoln Highway Corridor Museum.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his prior wife Pamela Sapienza Bateman and his step father Ralph Roble.
He is survived by his loving wife Connie Lydic Bateman of Strongstown, his son Brandon J. Bateman (Teresa) of Derry, brother Bob Bateman (Maxine) of Derry step children Heather Hopkins (Guy) and Tony Koscho all of Strongstown, three grandchildren; Gabrielle, Dylan and Brock Bateman, step grandchildren Ryan Hopkins (Katie), AJ Koscho (Cheyanna) Janelle Hopkins, Peyton Koscho and Makenzie Hopkins, a step great granddaughter Alara Koscho, special brother-in-law Buddy, an aunt Alice Beauten of Greensburg, many nieces and nephews and his dog Prince who he cared for like it was his child.
Jeff loved the Dallas Cowboys, Penn State, Dirt Track Racing, Nascar, hunting, golfing and the Casinos. He enjoyed taking trips, his frequent walks at Yellow Creek State Park, cruises, seeing the country and especially seeing all of his grandchildren at sporting events and cheer competitions.
Friends will be received Friday from 4-7 pm and Saturday from 10-11 am at the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue Derry where a service will be conducted Saturday at 11am. Private interment will be made at the Pineland Cemetery, Strongstown.
A special thanks to Dr. Matt Klain, 6th floor palliative unit at IRMC that took excellent care of Jeff, especially, Brittney, Amy, Samantha, Deanna, CNA Jessie and LPN's Sandy and Helen.
