John F. Lukon, 65, of Derry, died unexpectedly Sunday October 15, 2023 at his home. He was born March 2, 1958 in Latrobe a son of Rose Malik Lukon of New Derry and the late John A. Lukon.
John had retired from Latrobe Steel and had also worked at Teledyne Vasco. He had been an active member and director for the Derry Rod & Gun Club since he was 21. He had coached youth soccer and baseball for many years, playing baseball on many different teams being a good pitcher and hitter. Affectionately nick named "Big Boy" or coach, John was happiest when he was with his grandchildren, family, playing or coaching sports, golfing, fishing, at his camp in Potter County, watching Hallmark movies and hanging with his buddies at the Rod & Gun Club.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his sister Angela Quinn.
John is survived by his mother Rose, his loving wife Danielle Mizikar Lukon, his daughter Amber Eaglehouse (Michael) of Blairsville, his son John M. Lukon (Brynne) of Ligonier, his three grandchildren; Nash Lukon, Emma and Blake Eaglehouse, his brothers; David A. Lukon of Latrobe and Andrew M. Lukon of Derry, several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 5-8pm in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry where a service will be conducted Thursday at 11am
