Lawrence Edward Walters Obituary

Lawrence Edward "Ditty" Walters, 93, of Derry died Monday April 21, 2025 at Independence Health Latrobe Hospital following a brief Illness. Ditty was born August 3, 1931 in Latrobe the only son of Ludwig Lawrence and Grace Irene Muir Walters.
In 1950 Ditty graduated from Latrobe Area High School and Vale Tech Institute. On November 22, 1952, after dating through high school and prior to leaving for the US Army Air Force during the Korean Conflict he married Twyla Vongale Riley of Derry who was the daughter of the late Thomas Ira and Nora Amanda Tyson Riley. Ditty was a US Air Force Veteran, a member of the Derry Presbyterian Church and was employed as a manager for the Pittsburgh Based Frick and Lindsey Company until his retirement in 1993.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter in April of 1954 and his wife of 64 years Twyla Riley Walters on April 3, 2016.
He is survived by his son Rory Walters and his family.
Sports played an important role in his life whether it be weekly bowling and socializing with friends from the Derry Ukranian Club or weekly golf outings (weather permitting) at the Latrobe Elks with golf partners Nick, Roger and others from the Derry Rod and Gun Club.
Ditty lived a long, social and interest driven life. He will be truly missed by all whose lives he touched.
A service will be conducted Saturday at 11 am at the Coles Cemetery Chapel with Reverend Larry Armstrong of the Derry Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be made in the Coles Cemetery.
