Lulu Belle Penrod, 77, of Ligonier, died Wednesday January 15, 2025 at her home. She was born January 8, 1948 in Ligonier a daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian Heiple Roberts.
Lulu was a member of the Fort Palmer Presbyterian Church and had formerly worked at Latrobe Hospital and the Ligonier Subway. She enjoyed traveling, bible study and cross-stitching.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Clarence Alton Roberts and her two sisters; Helen Grow and Etta Grace Fritz.
She is survived by her husband W. Carl Penrod Jr., her children; Scott Smithley (Erin), Stephen Smithley (Hope) and Amy Taylor (Rachel), step- children; Staci Barkley (Frank) and Deb Patton (John), two grandchildren; Jacob and Nicole, and one great grandchild Waylon, several other step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Friday from 4-7 pm in the McCabe Funeral Home, 144 East Main Street, Ligonier. Her funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11 am at the Fort Palmer Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. J. Paul McCracken officiating. (Everyone is asked to go directly to the church) Private interment will be made in the Green Mountain Cemetery.
