Margaret Ann “Marge” Schrum, of Derry, Pennsylvania, went to join our Lord on May 16, 2026 leaving behind a life rooted in hard work, love of family, and faith in God.
Born on August 27, 1932, in Whitney, Pennsylvania, Marge was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Stankovich) Fodiak.
Marge was the beloved wife of the late Regis W. Schrum, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage and raised a large and loving family. She was a devoted mother to her six sons: Daniel J. (Donna) of Avonmore, John E. (Ronna) of Mount Airy, Maryland, Andrew M. of Derry, Thomas E. (Marilyn) of Latrobe, Regis H. (Patty) of Ligonier, and Patrick C. Schrum of Baldwin. Her greatest joy came from caring for her children.
Marge leaves behind her cherished twin sister, Magdalen “Madge” Andreycak of Latrobe; loving sister-in-law, Nancy E. Martin (Richard Stein), of Latrobe, and brother-n-law, Edward J. Schrum (Juan Chacon), of LaGuna Hills, California. She is also survived by her grandchildren: David (Katie), Linsey, Michael, Rebekah, Jeffrey, Rachael, Aldo Pomposini Jr. (Jenna), Joseph, and Emily Schrum; her great-grandchildren: Hayden, Adelyn, Connor, Caleb, and Jovine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Marge was preceded in death by her infant son Anthony, her daughter Diane E., and her grandson Joshua. She was also predeceased by her sisters: Mary Chetsko; Anna (Joe) Rusnock; Helen (Dennis) Stern; Leona “Lee” (Ed) Chemski; and brothers Paul, John (Ella), Joe, Mike (Theresa), and Steve Fodiak.
Marge was a dedicated parishioner of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church and had a deep and unwavering belief in God. She loved attending Mass and remained spiritually connected even when her health no longer allowed her to be there in person, faithfully watching services on television.
Marge devoted her life to caring for others, both in her work and within her home. Her career spanned several service-oriented roles, culminating in her time in the dietary department at Latrobe Hospital, where she took pride in supporting the well-being of patients and staff.. Marge was content only when in motion—never able to sit still—and found both purpose and peace in caring for those she loved. She will be remembered for her tireless work ethic and her selfless devotion to family. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Bridges Hospice and Elizabeth Seton Memory Care for the compassionate care and support they provided as Marge’s health declined.
Private arrangements are entrusted to McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Ave., Derry, followed by interment in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 117 S. Ligonier St., Derry, PA 15627, both causes close to Marge’s heart.
