Mary Dolores Joe DiCriscio, 100, formerly of New Derry, died peacefully Tuesday January 21, 2025 at St. Anne's home in Greensburg. She was born October 6, 1924 in Lucerne Mines the daughter of the late John and Rose Perna Mucci.
Mary was a member of St. Martin Roman Catholic Church in New Derry where she belonged to the Rosary Altar Society and had been active in church functions over the years. She worked side by side with her first husband Dominick at Joe's Red & White in New Derry while also raising five children. She was a loving mother and grandmother who helped to raise her grandchildren and always enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Music and dancing were a couple of the many things that she enjoyed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Dominick Anthony Joe, her son James Anthony Joe, a son-in-law Allen Keenan, brothers Michael and Samuel Mucci, and two sisters; Antoinette Shelaske and Margaret Brantlinger.
Mary is survived by her husband Louis DiCriscio, her daughters; Judith DiJoseph of Latrobe, Cheryl Caviggia (George) of New Derry, Yvonne Slifka (David) of Derry Twp. and Michelle Keenan of Latrobe, a sister Rosemarie Kenelia of Fairton, NJ, grandchildren; Lisa Wagner (Jim), Joseph D. Zemba, Denise Mitchell (Rick), Jessica Smiley, Michael Keenan, Jordan Caviggia, Cecily Schmitt (Michael), Brett Keenan, Justin D. Slifka (Sarah) and Tessa Kracinovsky (Colin), great grandchildren David, Matthew, Michael (Courtney), Chelsea, Jena, Elana, Dominic, Julianna, Nina, Chaeli, Kadence, Allee, Everly, Jaxon, Chase, Alessia, Talia, Sienna, Taylor, Milena, Harrison and Mason, and numerous great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Sunday from 12-5 pm in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry. A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 am in St. Martin Roman Catholic Church, New Derry. Interment will be made in the St. Martin Cemetery.
A very special thanks to St. Anne's Elizabeth Wing nurses and aides who lovingly cared for Mary the past two years.
The Rosary Altar Society will recite the rosary at 11:30 am in the funeral home.
