Melanie Nelson

Melanie Nelson, 60, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg surrounded by her family. Melanie was born on October 7, 1964, in Meycauayan, Philippines, daughter of Herminia Mijares and the late Reuben Camero.

Melanie is survived by her husband of 34 years, Larry Nelson, her daughters, Stephanie and Amanda Nelson (Nicholas), her sister Ana Mildred Camero, her brother Gilbert Camero (Mace), her niece Angela; and nephews Andre and AJ.

She was an avid traveler and lived in various places around the world, making lifelong friends and spreading joy. She worked for years at Sheetz and Penn State sharing her charisma and love with the community. It was hard to have a bad day when Melanie was around.

A private blessing service will be held on Tuesday, September 2,  2025. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been set up in Melanie’s honor through the PKD Foundation at support.pkdcure.org/mnelson.
