Peter Alan Checca

Peter Alan Checca, 57, of Derry, passed away Sunday, May 12th,2024 with his loved ones at his side. He was born April 27, 1967 in Pittsburgh the son of the late Peter Anthony and Ruth A. White Checca. Al led a life with a passion for helping other people and animals. He served over 15 years as an EMT with Rescue 8 (Forest Hills & Chalfant) and always shared fond memories of those times. He also volunteered with CART. Al was passionate about revitalizing his community and making it a better place for future generations. In recent years, he held various positions with Derry borough council and served as a security guard with Derry School District. He loved date nights with his wife and friends and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. Al also had a passion for firearms and shooting. He was preceded in death by both parents and a brother, Louis Chandler. Al is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Kristen Hickey Checca, his son Johnathon Checca, of Derry, his daughter Jessica Bulebosh (Michael) of Greensburg, and two grandchildren, Gabriella and Colt Bulebosh.
Friends will be received Thursday from 4-7 pm in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry with a prayer service at 7pm. The family would like to thank the staff at UPMC.
