Renee B. Michaels

Renee B. Michaels 63, of Ligonier passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones October 23, 2024 in the Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg.  She was born October 27, 1960 in Sandusky Ohio, a daughter of Peggy Shelby Windnagle  of Sandusky, Ohio and the late Ernest  Windnagle.  Renee was a member of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church of Ligonier and graduated from Westmoreland Community College in 1988 were she earned her nursing degree.  She was a well respected register nurse treating patients for over 25 years.  Renee had a great smile and was a very caring person that enjoyed needlepoint crafting and gardening.  She was and avid fan of Ohio State, the Browns, Guardians and Penguins.  
Renee is survived by her husband Mark Michaels of Ligonier, her daughters Emily Cairns (Brent) of Latrobe and Caitlin Michaels of Monroeville, a granddaughter Willow Cairns, siblings Dan Windnagle (Sally) of Scottsdale AZ, Chris Windnagle (Deanna) of Kodiak AK, and Lisa Alexander (Stephen) of Graceton PA, a brother-In-law Patrick Michael (Jodi) of Ligonier, sister-in-law Jen Smetak (Paul) of New Derry and several nieces and nephews.  Family will receive friends in the McCabe Funeral Home 144 East Main St. Ligonier, Sunday October 27 from 2-4 and 6-8.  A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday at 1:30 pm in the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Ligonier With Fr. Anthony Carbone as celebrant.  Interment will follow in Ligonier Valley Cemetery.  Donations may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church or to the Westmoreland Manor Activity Fund.
