Richard Everett Obituary

Richard W. Everett, 92, of Penn Hills, passed away January 15, 2026, in Monroeville, PA. He was born in Bradenville , PA, August 9, 1933, to the late Richard and Eleanor (Johnston) Everett. He was preceded in death by his first wife Dolores (Franks) Everett and a brother, Ronald. He is survived by his sons, Daryl and Brian of Plum, and his present loving wife of 21 years Linda Lu (Renner) Everett. Also surviving is brother Thomas (Ellie), grandsons, Brandon (Emma), and Daniel (Rose) and daughter-in-law Marlene. He is also blessed with 3 great granddaughters Maeve, Haven and Madeleine, nieces, Sandi, Sherry, Megan, Jessica and sister-in-law Pat Ciocco.
Dick graduated from Derry Township High School in 1951. While there, he lettered in three sports for three years and was a member of the National Honor Society for two years. Upon graduation, he attended Penn State for one year and then was drafted into the U.S Army. He did basic training in Georgia and was enrolled in the radio school at Fort Monmoth, N.J. Once having finished his schooling, he was deployed to Korea to serve the remainder of his obligation. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1955, he enrolled at Indiana Teachers College, where he earned a teaching degree in mathematics, and became certified as a guidance counselor. He was then employed as a mathematics teacher in the Penn Hills School District. Dick taught there from 1958 to 1985. He then became a guidance counselor until his retirement in 1992. Dick was a lifelong member of the Bradenville United Methodist Church. Over the years, He had occasion to serve on many committees. He remained very faithful to the church until his passing. Dick was an avid outdoor person. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially on Lake Erie. His love of sports included golfing. He played several times a week with different groups. He enjoyed the company and camaraderie of his fellow golfers. Dick played on local sandlot baseball teams for many years, and again, thoroughly enjoyed the companionship afforded while playing in a team sport. Remembering Richard will always be a blessing to those who knew and loved him. Family will receive friends, Wednesday January 21, from 2 to 5 PM, in the McCabe Funeral Home 300 West Third Avenue, Derry. His funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 11 AM, with Rev Olivia Graham as officiant, in the Bradenville United Methodist Church 5168 PA 982 Bradenville PA 15620 (Everyone is to go directly to the church).

The Latrobe-Derry Veterans Honor Guard will present a service Wednesday at 5pm in the funeral home.
