Richard Dale “Herky” McCaulley, of Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025. Born on November 26, 1933, in Derry, Pennsylvania, Richard served in the army as a cryptologist during the Korean Conflict.
Richard began his career at Pryce Machine Co. in Derry before continuing his work at Clark Metal in Blairsville. Beyond his career, Richard was known for his unwavering love of baseball. From playing on various local teams to trying out for the major leagues, the sport was a lifelong passion that brought him great joy. He remained a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and rarely missed a chance to watch them play. In addition to baseball, Richard found enjoyment in plowing snow during the winter months, bowling, fishing, and tending to projects around his home.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia McCaulley; his sister, Mary Margaret Shomo; his son, Mark McCaulley; daughter-in-law Pamela McCaulley; granddaughters Meghan Robinson and Kaitlyn Lees; and great-grandson Tyler Robinson. He was preceded in death by brothers Pat McCaulley, Dewey McCaulley, Jim McCaulley, and Ed McCaulley; sisters Anna Jane McCaulley, Betts Himler, and Beatrice Miller.
