Robert Downey Obituary

Robert Lewis Downey, 93, of New Alexandria, died Thursday February 29, 2024 at Concordia of Monroeville. He was born December 29, 1930 in Latrobe, a son of the late Lewis W. and Evelyn Morgan Downey.
He was a US Army Korean War Veteran having served in the 28th Division. Hunting, fishing, and taking his grandchildren where ever they wanted to go were some of the things that he enjoyed.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Virginia Kelly and four brothers; Jack, Thomas, Ronald and Richard Downey.
He is survived by his loving wife of seventy-three years Mary Margaret Sloan Downey, his daughter Brenda David (Wayne) of Derry, his son Robert Lewis Downey Jr. of Derry, his sister Patricia Stratton of Derry, 5 grandchildren; Theresa Florence (Corey), Wayne Michael David (Deanna), Shannon David, Jessica Daman (John) and Gena David, four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Sunday from 4-7 pm in the McCabe Funeral Home, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry where a service will be conducted at 7pm.

The Latrobe-Derry Veterans Honor Guard will present a service Sunday at 6:45pm in the funeral home.
