Robert Jording Obituary

Robert Francis Jording Sr., 79, of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at his home on November 20, 2025.

Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Robert lived a life defined by hard work, deep devotion, and a steadfast love for his family. Growing up in a large and close-knit family, he learned early the values of loyalty, resilience, and caring for one another—qualities that he carried throughout his entire life.

Robert spent many years working in construction, a career that suited his strong work ethic and hands-on nature. He was known for being reliable, hardworking, and dedicated to every job he undertook. His work not only helped support his family but also became a source of pride, knowing he contributed to building and shaping the community around him.

Outside of work, Robert enjoyed the simple pleasures that brought him joy. One of his favorite pastimes was going to bingo, where he found fun, friendship, and countless memories. He enjoyed the social atmosphere and the familiar faces, and it was a place where he felt at home. But more than anything, Robert loved his family deeply. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Genevieve and Charles Jording; his beloved wife, Betty Jording; his son, Robert Francis Jording Jr.; his daughter, Karen Ann Jording; and his siblings Bonnie Callander and Margaret Ann Benway.

He is survived by his sisters Darlene Kerin, Deborah Miller brothers Frank Jording and Charles Jording; his daughters Selena Layden and husband William Layden, Beverly Barley and her late beloved husband John Barley; and his daughter-in-law Melissa Jording. Robert is also survived by his loving girlfriend, Lisa Tawney, whose companionship brought comfort and happiness to his later years.

Robert leaves behind a large, loving family of grandchildren:  Courtney and husband Terry, William and wife Karina, Joshua, Corey, Nicholas, Zach, Sadie, Amanda, Brandon, Cristian, Austin, Gavin, Micheal, Johnny, Alicia, Robert & wife Teresa, Nicole & husband Mohammad, John & wife Lauren, Justin & wife Mollie, Jennifer & husband Corey, and Jerica.

In addition, Robert was blessed with 32 great-grandchildren, each one a precious piece of his legacy. His family was truly his pride and joy; nothing made him happier than watching it grow through each new generation.

Robert will be remembered as a man who worked hard, loved deeply, and brought kindness wherever he went. His presence will be profoundly missed, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
