Roberta Jean "Jeannie" Merlino

Roberta Jean "Jeannie" Merlino, 74, of Latrobe, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026. She was born on May 19, 1951, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Edna A. (Sylvester) and Camille J. Merlino.

Jeannie was a 1969 graduate of Greensburg Central Catholic High School. She attended Lock Haven University, earning a degree in education, graduating in 1973. Later in life, she followed a new calling and returned to school to pursue nursing, graduating in 1997 from Westmoreland County Community College. Jeannie worked as a nurse and truly loved caring for others throughout her career. She retired from Excela Health Latrobe Hospital in 2018.

As a lifelong learner, Jeannie had a deep appreciation for nursing, science, and education. She enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, and crocheting, and was always eager to learn something new. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her grandsons, who brought her great joy.

Jeannie is survived by her loving daughter, Angela K. (Puskar) Guidos (Jeff); grandsons, Noah A. Guidos and Nikolas A. Guidos; and brother, Corky Merlino (Kathy).

A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 27, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 S. Ligonier Street, Derry, with Fr. Salvatore Lamendola as celebrant.
