Ruth Jean (Brant) Miller, 85, of Ligonier passed away on Monday, January 20th in Loyalhanna Care Center. She was born December 5, 1939 in Ligonier, a daughter of the late Sherman and Margaret Brant. Ruth was employed as a domestic housekeeper, coffee hostess at Sheetz and a clerk at Macy's. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving spouse, Ellis W. Miller, married 57 years, a sister Rebecca Penrod, six brother in laws; John, William, Richard, Charles, Paul and Frank; three sister in laws; Pearl Will Gable, Shirley Newman and Elizabeth Clark, and great-granddaughter, Ava. She is survived by three daughters; Victoria (Larry) Hostetler, Christine (Ken) Allison, and Lori (Brian) Kalina all of Ligonier; grandchildren, Brian (Shola) Hostetler, Amanda (Lucas) Holbrook, Megan Harr (John Hassler), Jacob (Casey) Allison and Rachel Allison and Tom Cogis; great grandchildren; Bryson and Kaia Hostetler, Landon Holbrook, Ellie Stein, Finnley and Fletcher Allison and Hunter Hassler. She is also survived by two sisters, Barbara Brant and Judy (Earl) Johnson, a brother- in- law, Carl Penrod, and a sister- in- law Dolly (Lynn) Busch, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ruth's wishes for family and friends is to know that she did not fear death itself, and for us to know it is not the end but a new beginning for her. She also wants us to think about what she was like before her illness and to remember her in this way.
Friends will be received Thursday from 4-7pm in the McCabe Funeral Home, 144 East Main Street, Ligonier where a service will be conducted Friday at 11 am with the Reverend Dr. J. Paul McCracken officiating.
Interment will be made in the Menoher Memorial Cemetery.
