Sharon L. Goelz passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on October 24th, 2025. Sharon was born in Pittsburgh, PA and was a graduate of Penn Hills High School. She went on to graduate with a degree in Education from Thiel College, and was an elementary school teacher until her retirement from the Ligonier Valley School District in 2006. Sharon was a devoted Steelers and Penguins fan, and always held a special place in her heart for the city of Pittsburgh. She was a resident of Ligonier from 1972-2014. She grew to love her adopted “hometown” of over 40 years, and the people in it. She loved to read, garden, learn new things and travel. In her later years she took up yoga, Tai Chi and chess. She was a lifelong lover and protector of animals and the environment. Most of all she loved her many friends, and spending time or talking on the phone with them. Sharon moved to Wisconsin in 2014 and grew to love the Milwaukee area, especially the parks, museums and farmers markets. A Memorial service will be held at McCabe Funeral Home in Ligonier on November 20th. Visitors will be received between 10-10:30am, with service to begin at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to one or both of the following organizations that were important to Sharon: Ligonier Volunteer Hose Co. #1 (LVHC#1), PO Box 573, Ligonier, PA 15658 and/or Chained Dogs MKE, Inc. at www.ChainedDogsMkeInc.org. Special thank you to Ginny & Peter Fitzner, Peg Turner, Carol Darr, Ashley & Ryan Hansen and the nurses at Froedtert Hospital Neuro ICU in Milwaukee, WI.
