Stanley Silk Obituary

Stanley D. Silk, "Stan" 71, of Bolivar, passed away August 7, 2020, in Conemaugh Memorial Hospital.  He was born May 21, 1949 in Bolivar, a son of the late Clifford Stanley and Ethel Grace (Henderson) Silk.
Stan was a man with true grit.  He was a man of integrity and great character.  He was generous of heart and time. He was always the first to lend a hand and always thinking of others.
He lived life to the fullest and had the stories to prove it. Everyone would pay attention when Stan would tell a story. There was no need for exaggeration, in fact he usually had to tone the story down.
He was daring and adventurous.  He was proud of the fact that he was a snake sacking champion and also wrestled a bear twice. He may have lost to the bear, but he tried....His favorite holiday was dear season. An avid hunter, he grew up loving the outdoors. His fondest memories were of hunting with his dad "Herbie" and his brothers and friends. He had just recently started hunting with his grandson Andrew and that brought him nothing but happiness.
He was rare in every sense and his loss will be felt deeply by his friends and family.  He leaves behind his wife of 20 years and the love of his life, Vonda. He has two wonderful daughters with Norma "Kathy" Silk, Jamie Silk of Johnstown and  Dana Silk Tiu  and Christopher of Wheeling. Amazing grandchildren, Madelyn, Andrew, Katherine and Finn. His brothers and friends Daryl and Sharon Silk and Neil and Joyce Silk of Fairfield. He leaves behind nephews and neices that have always had a special place in his heart and many dear friends.
We will all be grateful for the time we had with Stan.
Friends will be received Monday 4 - 7 pm and Tuesday 12 - 2 pm with service at 2 in the McCabe Funeral Home 144 East Main St. Ligonier.  Online condolences may be made at mccabefuneralhomespa.com
