Teresa Palmer Obituary

Teresa Alice Palmer, 89, passed away peacefully December 11, 2023 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.  She was born on November 15, 1934 in Middletown Connecticut, a daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Annelli) Sajek.  She was raised in Newport, Rhode Island where she attended the Catholic School System graduating from St. Catherine's Academy in 1952.  She briefly attended Salve Regina College but transferred to Mary Washington College graduating in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Certificate in Medical Technology from the University of Virginia.  Fortunately, she did research work for Dr. Robert Muller, Chairman of the Surgical Department at the Medical Center, who surgically repaired a patent ductus arteriosus allowing her to live a long and healthy life.  Except for the period in which she was raising her children, she worked as a Medical Technologist completing her career at Conemaugh Medical Center as manager of the Hematology Department and Director of the School of Medical Technology.
Teresa is survived by her husband William E. Palmer, M.D. who she married in 1957.  They raised three children; William E. Palmer III, M.D. of Boston Mass., Mary Elizabeth, a chef in Ocean Springs, Miss., and Margaret Anne an educator.  Teresa, at an early age, showed artistic talent for painting, and it was one of her great pleasures throughout her life to escape for many hours to the retreat of her art studio.  She was raised in the Catholic faith which she remained committed throughout her life.  A memorial service and burial in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown, Rhode Island is planned in the Spring allowing her to join many beloved family members.  Arrangements are under the direction of McCabe Funeral Home, Ligonier.  Online condolences may be made at mccabefuneralhomespa.com
