Thomas Hudson Sr. Obituary

Thomas E. Hudson Sr., 73, of Derry passed away Saturday September 22, 2018 at home. He was born September 29, 1944 in Greensburg Pa, a son of the late James P. Hudson and Charlotte (Grimm) Hudson.

He was employed by the PA. Dept. of Transportation as a highway maintenance worker, retiring in 2005 with 33 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved the outdoors, his garden and watching all of the Pittsburgh sports teams. He also enjoyed making homemade sauerkraut and jerky with his family.

Tom was a lifetime member of the Derry Rod & Gun Club, Millwood Sportsmen, Twin Maples Hunt Club and the Derry F.O.E

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Franklin R. and Marilyn J. Laskie, three brothers; Earl and Chuck Chambers and Richard H. Hudson. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandra A. Hudson (their 50th wedding anniversary would have been on September 28th, 2018) two sons; Thomas E. Hudson Jr. (Jennifer) and Todd M. Hudson (Currie) all of Derry, five grandchildren; Spencer, Grant, Taylor, Mallory and Bridgette, a brother James P. Hudson Jr. (Shirley) of Greensburg, brothers and sister in law; Robert F. Laskie (Karen) of Derry and Nancy Hudson of Latrobe, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.

He was a great father and husband who loved his family dearly, especially his grand children who he was so proud of. He will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Family will receive friends Tuesday September 25, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the McCabe Funeral Home, Derry. A funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home, Wednesday at 11 am with Reverend Jeffrey Schock as officiant. Interment to follow in Coles cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Westmoreland County Food Bank .
