Wilda Jean Shaffer Hershey

Wilda Jean Shaffer Hershey, 100, of Ligonier, passed peacefully Sunday April 13, 2025.
She was born January 2, 1925 in Stahlstown a daughter of the late Charles and Sarah Logan Hood.
She and her first husband Robert E. "Bobby" Shaffer whom she married on January 2, 1947 operated a dairy farm together until his sudden death in May of 1980 having raised two sons John H. Shaffer (Kim) of Ligonier and Philip L. Shaffer (Judy) of Latrobe. 
Jean married Louis Hershey in 1982 until his death in 2017.
In addition to her husbands she was preceded in death by a brother Floyd Hood.
In addition to her sons she is survived by her sister Gertrude Shaffer who was also her best friend, a sister-in-law Martha Hood, grandchildren; Molly McWilliams, Lindsay S. Shaffer  and Tera Saberton, great grandchildren; Ava McWilliams and Hailey Saberton, stepdaughter Patty Roup, step son Tom Doty, two nieces and two nephews.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 4-7 pm in the McCabe Funeral Home, 144 East Main Street, Ligonier where her service will be conducted Thursday at 11 am. Private interment will be made in the Ligonier Valley Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Activity Fund at Ligonier Gardens.
