Dear , dear grandma Violet, it is not without sheding tears I write this entry. I only had you close for a very short time, but my memory of you is strong. I remeber you as a beutiful older woman that cared for each and everyone of us. Me a girl from across the Atlantic just spending a year with your beutiful daughter Sandys family, all your grandchildren and family. Talking gently and dearly about the people you had close in your life. You lived a long life of giving and caring, seeing the little people and caring for them in many ways. As most of us you must have had days that were not as good but you never let us knew. You smiled and made us feel special. Looking through my memory book from my year as an exchange student I read a note that I wrote that Thanksgiving, "Today we visited Grandpa and Grandma Stear, the house they live in is beutiful, old mystic and fantastic. But I´m not sure it is the house it self that makes it special, it is the people in it. Grandma cooked, it was wonderful, the boys watched football. We laughed in the kitchen. We talked about home, it was a day to remember. I feel so safe with my new family, miss them back home but I have been blessed with this family". I was 16 back then and I already new that is not the house it is the people in it that makes it special. And you were special in many ways. You left a family behind that means the world to me, my wonderful extra parents Sandy and Claude, my sister Kathy, my brother John and their families. Miles are long between us, but in heart we are always connected . My taughts are with them all and in my prayers I keep them near.
